Solutions: Business Services
Aurora offers three ways to serve business service customers. The first
approach employs a family of SMART FastE and GbE CWDM Media Converters for Ethernet
transport over an existing HFC network (with associated indoor and outdoor optical passives,
CWDM multiplexers, demultiplexers, single- and multi-channel filters and 1310/CWDM filters).
This approach is depicted in the following figure.

The second approach uses a DS4004 Optical Ethernet Multiplexer installed in
an Aurora node enclosure. By leveraging existing HFC infrastructure, fiber-based Ethernet
services can be incrementally added to link individual subscribers on an as needed basis.
The DS4004 Optical Ethernet Multiplexer is designed for outdoor use and is capable of
supplying four 100 Mbps dedicated links to standard media converter CPEs or a wireless gateway.
The DS4004 can be configured with a variety of SFP (plug-in) transceivers, is transparent to
IP Layer 2 and higher protocols, and provides low latency for VoIP traffic.
Aurora’s third approach to connecting business customers uses the GE4132M
Ethernet Passive Optical Network module installed in an Aurora node enclosure. The GE4132M
is a node-based OLT (optical line termination) that can deliver up to 1 Gbps to each of 32
customers in a passive optical network (PON). As an added value, it’s also possible to offer
1550nm broadcast video overlay on the same PON architecture.
Both of these latter approaches (as well as the first) are depicted in the
following figure.
