Aurora Networks Delivers Future of Cable Industry at Cable Connections Week 2009
Leading optical transport vendor powers convention center and Broadband Nation, presents leadership on RFoG and demonstrates next-generation cable solutions

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - March 23, 2009 - Aurora Networks, Inc., the only optical transport solution provider focused on delivering a cost-effective, optimized platform for next-generation cable services, today announced its presence at Cable Connections Week 2009 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. from April 1-7, 2009.

As announced by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), Aurora Networks' will deploy its RF over Glass (RFoG) fiber-to-the-premises solution to bring the full complement of Comcast cable services to Broadband Nation and the entire DC Convention Center. With Aurora Networks' RFoG technology powering the show, exhibitors and attendees will experience the bandwidth benefits that Aurora Networks brings to cable subscribers.

Aurora Networks will also be an exhibitor in the CableNET® technology showcase, co-sponsored by CableLabs® and the NCTA. The company will be demonstrating its innovative cable solutions including:

  • Next-generation RFoG, RFPON - This solution combines the best of RFoG and passive optical network (PON) technologies to create an even more efficient and cost-effective solution for cable MSOs. RFPON solutions work in new build situations, multiple dwelling units (MDUs) and in rural, low-density areas, giving operators a better way to offer next-generation subscriber services to remote customers.

  • Industry-leading LcWDM® (O-band) analog transmitter solution - LcWDM enables multiple wavelengths on the same fiber for node segmentation to cost-effectively expand the bandwidth per subscriber with no additional construction costs. In addition, it leaves the DWDM 1550 nm C-band available for other services or longer reach segmentation.

  • Future-proof Fiber Deep tools - Key components of a Fiber Deep architecture, along with next-generation access modules, enable MSOs to drive more services from their installed plant.

In addition, Aurora Networks' CTO, Oleh Sniezko, will be presenting on RFoG and PON technologies at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Emerging Technologies Conference. The session, "Scaling the Network Infrastructure," is open to all registered conference attendees from 1:45 - 3:15 p.m. EDT, in room 202AB at the SCTE Emerging Technologies Conference.

"As an industry leader providing complete RFoG solutions with an optional xPON overlay, Aurora Networks sees Cable Connections Week 2009 as an ideal opportunity to discuss the future of this technology and its implications for operators," said Sniezko. "Innovation, efficiency and cost-savings will trump most topics at the Cable Show 2009 as the cable industry battles to keep its "recession-proof" title. We believe that RFoG and a focus on passive networks, whether coaxial or fiber, as found in our Fiber Deep and RFPON solutions, will be important at this time to our industry."
