Suddenlink Communications Receives Aurora Networks’ 1,000th LcWDM™ Transmitter

Santa Clara, CA — March 25, 2008 — Aurora Networks announced today that it has reached a new milestone with the shipment of its 1,000th LcWDM transmitter to Suddenlink Communications. Suddenlink is using Aurora’s state-of-the-art LcWDM system to upgrade its network so that it can support the information, communication and entertainment demands of its customers at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions.

"Aurora’s technology is providing us with a cost-effective solution to increase our network capacity so that we can offer an even more compelling range of services to business and residential customers," said Terry Cordova, Suddenlink’s chief technology officer. "We chose to partner with Aurora because their field-proven LcWDM system is scalable, reliable, and cost-effective."

"Suddenlink has invested significantly to upgrade the facilities they have acquired," said Guy Sucharczuk, Aurora’s chairman, president and CEO. "We are enthusiastic to be working with this top-10 U.S. cable broadband provider as they prepare their network capacity for the coming generations of bandwidth-intensive products and services."

Aurora’s LcWDM technology is an 'O'-band wavelength division multiplexing system which was introduced at the SCTE’s Cable-Tec Expo 2006 in Denver and started shipping later that year. This has evolved to an eight wavelength system which is the highest number of wavelengths available in the industry today. Aurora’s solution provides MSOs with a cost-effective way to segment an existing node service area up to eight times over distances up to 30 kilometers without constructing or using additional new fibers. The transmitters can be combined with Aurora’s NC4000 Scalable Node Platform to increase network capacity to meet the bandwidth demands of HDTV, VoIP, VOD and high speed data services. Given its capabilities, Aurora’s segmentation solution is ideal for fiber-starved areas and can support up to eight forward segments and 20 reverse segments on a single fiber.
