Aurora Networks Releases 1 GHz Essential Features Node Platform
Optimizes the Reliability and Affordability of Fiber Deep Architectures

Orlando, FL — June 20, 2007 — Today at the Cable-Tec Expo, Aurora Networks will unveil its NC4000EG series ''second generation'' Fiber Deep Node platform optimized to provide all of the essential features cable operators need to realize the benefits of state-of-the-art HFC Node+0 architectures.

The Essential Features Node platform improves the cost-effectiveness of fiber deep architectures by making them as or more affordable than traditional HFC networks. In addition, Aurora’s solution allows cable operators to reap the following benefits:

•  Reduce actives per mile by 75 percent
•  Reduce maintenance and power consumption costs by 65 percent
•  Achieve network reliability of 99.999 percent
•  Reduce hub expenditures
•  Cost effectively address future network growth and deployment of new
    services
•  Eliminate RF amps
•  Lower cost per subscriber
•  Serve 50 to 200 homes passed per node

The Essential Features of the 1 GHz node platform include:

•  Four ultra-high level RF outputs
•  1x2 segmentation
•  1310nm, 1550nm, DWDM, LcWDM™ and CWDM optical capabilities
•  Aurora’s patented advanced digital return technology supports
    daisy-chaining or ''2-fer'' technology
•  Fully integrated network monitoring management
•  Compatibility with all Aurora NC4000 series nodes and modules
•  NGNA compliant

Several options are available to enhance the capabilities of Aurora’s Essential Features Node platform: optical redundancy switches, digital transponders, optical amplifiers, digital transceivers, passives and data services modules. In addition, operators can further minimize network expenses by utilizing Aurora’s Virtual Hub (VHub), a fully operational hub in a standard node housing.

"Aurora’s robust 1 GHz Essential Features Node platform allows cable operators to reliably increase the capacity to each subscriber while reducing actives, capital expenditures and operating expenses," said John Dahlquist, Aurora Network’s vice president of marketing. "Aurora is proud to provide the industry’s widest range of solutions for cost-effective network extensions and upgrades."

Aurora Networks will showcase its complete optical transport line of 1 GHz transmitters, nodes and business services solutions during exhibit hours at the Cable-Tec Expo on June 20-22 in booth 2073.
