Aurora Networks Brings Wireless Technology to Unity Day 2005

Unity I-Link™ to Bridge Digital Divide by Educating Urban Families and Businesses

Santa Clara, CA — August 16, 2005 — Aurora Networks, a global leader in advanced optical transport systems for broadband networks, will provide the technology to create a wireless network at the West Philadelphia Unity Day™ 2005 (WPUD). The family-oriented event is expected to attract 10,000 attendees on September 24 at Malcolm X Park in Philadelphia, Pa.

Aurora’s Power-Over-Ethernet Gateway, a DOCSIS standard-based solution, will be implemented by the local cable provider, Urban Cable, to provide free 802.11 wireless Internet access throughout the park in an initiative titled the Unity I-Link™ Project. Event organizers are currently seeking consumer product manufacturers and retailers to demonstrate the diverse applications of wireless technology to the urban audience.

"The Unity I-Link Project will help bridge the digital divide in urban communities throughout Philadelphia by raising awareness of the unique applications of wireless technologies in homes and businesses," shared Nathaniel Thompson, the WPUD event organizer and president and CEO of Forge Solutions, Inc.

"Aurora Networks is pleased to support the Unity I-Link Project which will enable West Philadelphia residents to experience the wireless revolution and its far-reaching impact within their community," added John Dahlquist, vice president of marketing for Aurora Networks.

Aurora’s Power-Over-Ethernet Gateway is used by cable operators throughout the country to cost effectively backhaul wireless access points and deploy wireless services to residential and commercial customers.
