Aurora Networks Virtual Hub Earns Diamond Award

Santa Clara, CA — June 2, 2005 — Aurora Networks announced a review panel of senior directors and vice presidents from several MSOs evaluated its ground-breaking Virtual Hub Platform (VHub) and awarded it with a Broadband Gear Report 3.5 Diamond Award.

Aurora’s VHub provides an innovative solution for multiple systems operators (MSOs) seeking to deploy voice, video and data services to low density and rural areas that were previously deemed cost-prohibitive or fiber-constrained. By engineering the functionality of a fully operational hub in a standard node housing, Aurora’s VHub eliminates all capital expenditures routinely associated with hub sites and minimizes power and maintenance operating expenditures to deliver a cost-effective, revenue-producing solution for cable operators.

A single VHub can service up to 20,000 households from one location. When used in conjunction with Aurora’s DWDM return path transponders, it provides broadcast and narrowcast services for up to 24 nodes using as few as six fibers. Aurora’s VHub also features field-hardened DWDM optical passives, EDFAs and optical switches.

"We thank Broadband Gear Report’s committee of industry experts for recognizing Aurora’s Virtual Hub as a valuable, innovative solution for the industry. We are truly honored to have received a Diamond Award," shared Ron Wolfe, senior product manager for Aurora Networks.

"This is an extremely solid score. Our review panel pulled no punches with their product evaluation, and the VHub has certainly captured the respect of these industry leaders," said Tim Hermes, publisher of Broadband Gear Report.

Aurora Networks will demonstrate the cutting-edge capabilities of the VHub at Cable-Tec Expo in San Antonio on June 15-17 in booth 4107. In addition, the solution will be featured in the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo print edition of Broadband Gear Report.
