Aurora Networks Announces 5 to 65 MHz Transport Products
Products Double Available Upstream Bandwidth per Application for Significant Cost Savings
Santa Clara, CA May 31, 2005 Aurora Networks, a global leader in
advanced optical transport systems for broadband networks, today announces the introduction
of its dual channel digital return transmitters and receivers for 5 to 65 MHz return capacity
applications. These dual channel or ''2-fer'' devices allow twice the amount of information to
be transmitted over the same fiber cable, effectively doubling the available bandwidth per user
in the upstream path for distances greater than 100 km.
Ideally suited for hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) and fiber-deep architectures, Aurora’s
''2-fer'' digital reverse technology supports cost-effective growth in high-speed data and
telephony penetrations by increasing the usable reverse bandwidth. Aurora’s innovative solution
transports up to 80 unique return channels on a single fiber from the hub site to the network’s
headend.
"Aurora’s digital reverse product line utilizes proprietary technology to
effectively double the amount of bandwidth available to the return path. By eliminating the need
to deploy new fiber to support additional services and facilitate the centralization of video
servers and CMTSs, Aurora’s digital return products save cable operators’ time and money,"
said John Dahlquist, Vice President of Marketing for Aurora Networks.
Aurora’s Dual Channel Digital 5 to 65 MHz Return Products
The DT3515C series Digital Transmitter module accepts two 5 to 65 MHz
RF signal inputs, independently digitizes the signals, sums them into a 3.125 Gbps digital stream
and converts this stream into an optical signal on one of 40 ITU grid channels.
The DR3421 Dual Return Channel Digital Receiver enables simultaneous
conversion of digital return path traffic from a 3.125 Gbps optical link into two discrete RF output
ports.
Aurora’s CH3000 Universal Chassis
Aurora Networks’ advanced mid-plane, 3 RU chassis platform is the most flexible, easy to
configure, future-proof platform for traditional HFC, passive HFC and fiber to the home (FTTH)
networks. All active modules of the CH3000 feature the unique combination of two patented design
features: the mid-plane platform concept and dynamic back plates. The mid-plane provides the DC
power bus and the universal communications bus by supporting local and remote SNMP management.
In addition, the mid-plane facilitates the installation of modules from either the front or the
rear of the chassis. The dynamic back plates simplify pre-wiring of the chassis so module
replacement can occur from the front of the chassis without disconnecting or reconnecting cables
in the back of the chassis.
Aurora’s ''Optical Network Products'' will be displayed at the ANGA Cable Trade
Fair in Cologne, Germany during exhibit hours on May 31st through June 2nd.
