Aurora Networks Will Showcase Latest Cutting Edge Solutions at The National Show
Santa Clara, Calif. March 30, 2005 Aurora Networks, a leading developer
and manufacturer of advanced optical transport systems for broadband networks, will unveil three
new solutions during the NCTA’s 2005 The National Show on April 3-5 in San Francisco. The
manufacturer will provide product demonstrations in exhibit booth 5484 for Aurora’s Outdoor Wi-Fi
Access Delivery System, the Virtual Hub Platform and the CWDM Ethernet Access System with SMART
Media Converter technology.
Media contacts are invited to schedule a private demonstration by contacting Cora
Wickersham at 408.235.7026 or via e-mail at cwickersham@aurora.com.
Aurora’s Outdoor Wi-Fi Access Delivery System
This solution separates associated backhaul technology from the 802.11-compliant radios,
giving the cable operator more flexible, scalable and cost-effective solutions to reach the millions
of small to medium-size businesses that were previously deemed impractical by aerial/underground
coaxial cable or fiber due to expense, regulatory considerations or landlord restrictions.
Aurora’s Virtual Hub Platform
The enhanced VHub features field-hardened DWDM optical passives, EDFAs and optical switches
which expand existing HFC networks without additional fiber, enabling multiple system operators
(MSOs) to deliver voice, video and data services in areas that were previously either cost-prohibitive
or fiber-constrained.
Aurora’s CWDM Ethernet Access System
Featuring SMART Media Converter™ technology, this system provides MSOs with operational,
administration and maintenance (OAM) management capabilities that were previously available only
for enterprise-class Ethernet networks. The system includes MC2401B and MC1401B series SMART Media
Converter™ modules that feature IEEE 802.3ah OAM, remote IP-less CPE management for
streamlined plug-and-play deployments, remote loopback, RMON statistics and remote CPE environmental
monitoring.
