Aurora Networks Appoints Kevin Canty as Chief Operating Officer
High-Tech Veteran Brings Strong Management Skills to Aurora Operations
Santa Clara, CA. — April 16, 2003 — Aurora Networks, a leading
developer and manufacturer of advanced optical transport systems for broadband networks,
announced today the appointment of Kevin Canty to the newly created position of Chief
Operating Officer (COO). He will be responsible for company profit and loss (P&L),
as well as overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Operations, Finance and Human
Resources departments.
"Kevin has a reputation as a strong executive and proven ability to
effectively and efficiently manage operations for successful high-technology companies,"
said Guy Sucharczuk, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Networks. "As
Aurora continues to grow, Kevin's strong internal leadership will allow me to focus my
attention on supporting our customers in the areas of new product development and customer
service. Kevin's experience will be a major asset to Aurora as we expand our operations."
Kevin has over twenty years of experience managing operations in both large
and small technology company environments. Most recently he led operations for a $2 billion
division of Applied Materials as Vice President, Operations and Planning, Metal Deposition
Business Unit. Prior to his four years at Applied Materials, Kevin held senior operations
management positions with 3Com Corporation, MIPS Computer Systems/SGI, NeXT Computer and
Hewlett-Packard. Kevin’s operational management skills include, P&L management,
resource planning, execution of business strategies, materials and supply chain management,
cost reduction and quality management. Kevin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from
the State University of New York at Geneseo and a Masters of Business Administration, from
Colorado State University.
